Neighborhood cleanup event on Oct. 17

Please join us at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, for a neighborhood cleanup event! We’ll meet at the Mosley’s home at the corner of 26th Avenue and Cool Spring Road. We’ll be participating as part of the Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation’s Clean Up Green Up Fall 2015 initiative. Volunteer teams will split up to clean sections of our neighborhood. Light refreshments will be served. So come on out, meet your neighbors, and lend a helping hand!

At a special meeting of the Cool Spring Terrace Civic Association on March 27, 2015, Chad Williams from the Maryland – National Capital Park & Planning Commission gave a presentation on the rewrite of the Prince George’s County zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations. The meeting was well attended, and a lively discussion ensued.

For the third consecutive year, the CSTCA will participate in the Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup, scheduled for Saturday April 5, 2014, from 9 to 11:00 am. The CSTCA again will partner with the Anacostia Watershed Society (AWS), with training augmented by the Alice Ferguson Foundation. Volunteers at last year’s event removed 312 tons (624,000 lbs) of trash from 633 sites in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC.

CSTCA Past President Carol Hurwitch is once again spearheading CSTCA and local community participation by organizing the group that meets at Adelphi Mill. Please contact Ms. Hurwitch at if you are interested in participating or have questions.

CSTCA Receives Official Recognition from Sen. Ramirez

At the February 2014 meeting of the Cool Spring Civic Association, Senator Victor Ramirez presented the CSTCA with an official citation from the Maryland General Assembly to congratulate the CSTCA for our “hard work to protect and improve the quality of life for community members.”

Among the visitors at the meeting were members of the Chillum-Adelphi Volunteer Fire Department. The department’s Lieutenant Breen shared a number of important tips for keeping our homes and families safe from fire.
